Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine addresses the root cause of illness and disease rather than just treating the symptoms with natural interventions. It starts with supporting the body in its ability to heal itself. Doctors of Naturopathic Medicine assess the whole person, taking into consideration the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of your health.

Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a whole-body approach that involves the insertion of fine, sterile, single-use needles along certain points in the body and Chinese herbs. Acupuncture triggers the release of biochemicals and neurotransmitters which activates a nervous system response that creates blood flow and allows the body to enter a state in which it is better able to heal itself.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft tissues and aims to enhance one's health and well-being by addressing discomfort from muscle overuse, daily stressors or chronic pain. This includes muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints.

Osteopathic Manual Therapy

Osteopathy is a natural medicine that aims to restore function in the body by treating the causes of pain and imbalance. Osteopathic Manual Therapy offers cranial sacral therapy, myofascial release, soft tissue and joint mobilization as well as visceral manipulations.

Colby completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary in 2014 with an Advanced Diploma in Athletic Therapy. She has worked with a variety of sports mainly focusing on hockey and rugby. Through this avenue, she discovered Osteopathy and loves the approach of seeing and treating the body as a whole with all systems in mind. In 2021 she completed a 5-year program Osteopathic Manual Therapy program at the Vancouver campus of the Canadian College of Osteopathy.

Post Graduate courses: July 2021- Accessing the Vagus Nerve September 2021- Palpation of the living bioplasm September 2022- Clinical Skills workshop June 2024- Endocranial Spasm 1 September 2024- Endocranial Spasm 2

Colby’s assessments involve looking at the whole body through the musculoskeletal, visceral, and craniosacral systems to determine where the areas of restriction are to be able to relieve pain and increase the quality of life. Treatments involve myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and visceral manipulation among others to help restore your body to its optimal functioning capacity. Osteopathic treatments are often lighter touch than other professions so many people report they do not “feel” much of the treatment, just the positive effects after.

The goal of treatment is to release tension and areas of restriction so the body can function optimally. Within Osteopathy there is the idea that the body is self-regulating and treatment helps to remove barriers that are preventing health from being able to express itself.
